CLOE - Compétences Linguistiques Orales et Écrites
What is CLOE?
CLOE (Compétences Linguistiques Orales et Écrites) is a language certification developed by the Centre d'Études de Langues, created by CCI France.
It evaluates both written and oral language skills from level A1 to C2, in a professional context. Since 2018, CLOE certifications are available in 5 languages and are fully eligible for CPF funding:

CLOE is genuinely innovative: it combines an adaptive online written assessment with a live oral interview : making it one of the most precise and professional certifications available.

Part 1 - Written assessment
The written part takes place online, with asynchronous webcam monitoring.
It consists of a 50-question adaptive questionnaire : the difficulty automatically adjusts based on your answers, which makes it both precise and efficient.
What's assessed:
✓ Vocabulary : everyday and professional, adapted to context
✓ Grammar : the main structures needed to build coherent sentences of varying complexity
✓ Reading comprehension : understanding short texts, their overall meaning, and specific details
✓ Listening comprehension : understanding instructions, questions, and exchanges from a native speaker
Part 2 - Oral interview
The oral part takes place by video call, by appointment.
It lasts 15 to 20 minutes and is conducted with a real examiner, not an automated system.
What's assessed:
✓ Professional vocabulary : appropriate to your industry and communication context
✓ Grammar : constructing clear, coherent sentences in real time
✓ Spoken fluency : communicating naturally with clear pronunciation
✓ Interaction : holding a dialogue, responding to questions, discussing a professional topic
Getting your certificate
To obtain the CLOE certificate, a minimum of level A2 is required. However, depending on your professional project, you can aim for any level up to C2.
Results are communicated within 72 hours of validation by the examination panel.
